Soft Masculine with Zane // Studio Session // Portland, Oregon

I recently decided that while I can talk for hours about why I love boudoir and the experience from my perspective as the photographer, it’s also important that my readers get a glimpse into the client experience. When preparing this post, I asked my lovely model Zane to collaborate by writing a paragraph about the session from his point of view. He was happy to assist, and so here is the story of this session, as told by Zane.

"I had never done a nude photo shoot prior to this. I have had the pleasure of working with River on a few other photo shoots, so I trusted her vision for this project. That being said, it was still something I felt a bit nervous about going in. Honestly, all nerves and jitters were quickly erased. River does an amazing job of making every shoot light, fun, and relaxed; while also being incredibly professional. She's great with giving directions on how to pose, and reminding you to breathe (a consistent thing I was forgetting to do haha).

We did a "Soft Masculine" shoot. There was light music playing, and LOTS of chamomile flowers. River does an amazing job of making you feel comfortable being vulnerable, and capturing those intimate pictures. We were in a beautiful studio in north Portland, with several different furniture set-ups and amazing lighting. My wife was able to come for the second half, and if you can bring your partner, I highly recommend it. She was able to capture behind the scenes shots, and it was great sharing this experience. The whole shoot only took about an hour.

I entered this project feeling a bit hesitant, but trusting; and I left feeling very confident and more comfortable in my own skin. I'm excited at the prospect of doing future shoots like this one (seriously, can being a nude model be a hobby haha), and I can't recommend booking a boudoir with River enough. The pictures are absolutely amazing, but the boost in self-assurance, confidence, and comfort is worth it alone."
